Growing up

Since this summer will include the 50th "celebration" of my birth, I wanted to try to spend some time being more intentional in my life, since the first 50 years have flown by. To that end, I've started journaling my "Self-Improvement Project - Save Up and Shape Up". Of course, I need to lose weight (a fairly significant amount), but I also want to pursue anything that improves me, whether that is taking classes, going for a walk, taking a new opportunity to volunteer in something that comes my way, keeping in better contact with friends and loved ones...the list is endless. But I'm looking at that as opportunities, not some onerous burden. I'm eating lunches I bring from home and exercising in my office at lunch - and I feel happy about both, which is quite unusual for me. Maybe I'm finally growing up!

A Pleasant Surprise

On a somewhat nervous lark, I decided to get on the scale this morning. Haven't done that for a while and wasn't feeling particularly optimistic since I haven't exactly been a model of dieting perfection. I have cut out the night-time snacking for the most part and tried to manage portions better, so obviously not the kind of diligence that would lead anyone to think I've lost 18 pounds since early summer!!! What a (wonderful) surprise!

I blocked the Adamas shawl and the Miriam Felton Foliage shawl that have been laying around just waiting to be blocked. They are ready to pull the wires and pins out of and wear! I'm really looking forward to actually wearing something I've made.

New Experience

I'm off on another new experience - BLOGGING!!! I've been a singer most of my life (the "Soprano" part above) and a knitter for the last 6 or 7 years ( the "Knits" part). I love my family and all things music, books and craft! I'm hoping to turn this into a place to record parts of all of that.

Currently on the needles: a cable scarf, several lace shawls and a couple cardigan sweaters.
